Musician

Hello!

My musical gifts are admittedly narrow in scope, and to my way of thinking, no one should bother singling me out for any special virtuosity. I have none. My work is spontaneous and impulsive, being more about “feel” and “emotion” than technique, compositional concept, or craft. However, I’ve worked moderately hard at it and have had a certain amount of attention given to me  — more so than I ever should have expected.

All the same, my efforts aren’t that widely known. But they have, over time, received radio airplay and garnered for me a loyal (if sparse) audience — from the Baltic States to Australia and various points in between. So, I guess,  someone else out there appreciates it. At this point I’ve toured and performed in five western U.S. states. As time passes and I am slowing down, performances are a pretty rare thing for me at this point.

If you’ve read this far, perhaps you might navigate around to listen to some of the recordings, and videos. “Weird, but interesting!” is the comment I hear most often, and that could sum me up musically or artistically. I am perfectly happy with that. My good friend Jeff Kaiser, once told me of someone’s definition of Art as being little more than children playing on a mudbank and calling out to show off their mud pies to one another.

Thanks for visiting!

“…alternates between Hendrixian fantasies and paranoid digital sounds, with occasional high lonesome plucking.”

“Ted Killian is a true creative musician and performer!  His guitar playing always inspires me to deepen my listening — he is a joy to perform with!”

“The first time I saw Ted play, back in the early ’00s, I was completely mesmerized with his tone and melodic choices. His playing takes me to places I wish I could pilot to.”
